Throughout this devlog, I wanted to primarily focus on the topic of branding, as well as improving NPC automated combat. In a previous devlog, I mentioned that my game was tentatively called the Time Lord Accord. Which in retrospect, was a terrible name. My dream indie game is now called Muster (tentative)! I've also been working on some draft logos for the game. In terms of actual game development, I matured the NPC automated combat. I really wanted to focus on making the automated combat more engaging and satisfying. There are now floating popups for damage and status effects. Additionally, I've added ranged archers and spell casters for extra troop diversity. Finally, I added particle effects to ranged projectiles and trail renderers to melee weapons, to make everything pop a bit more. I refactored a lot of the backend NPC movement, because it was starting to get slightly unmaintainable. I've also thought about trying to improve my animation workflow. I have so many spritesheets I want to use, but having to create the same 4 walk animations for each texture is extremely time consuming. If you are familiar with a way to keep the base animation the same from a spritesheet and just change out the sprites, that'd be greatly appreciated. Lastly, I've been thinking about implementing a minigame system as a side game functionality. For example, various townspeople may have fun minigames and tasks for you to complete, and as reward you'll get a certain number of troops. I have yet to implement this system, so let me know what you all think in the comments below!
