Recently, I've been focusing on game feel as it relates to game development and game design. Game feel is a bit hard to describe from a game dev perspective, but basically are the controls smooth and responsive? Do the animations fit and is the combat engaging (among other things)? First, I completely redesigned the combat system. I got inspiration from Game Endeavor's combat system, as well as the game Archvale (links above). Essentially, there is a floating sword, and when attacking the sword rotates around the player, creating a swipe effect. This ultimately makes my indie RPG feel overall a lot more fun. I also added a player dash ability, to add a more dynamic movement system. I also greatly improved enemy behavior and pathfinding since the last devlog. NPCs can now calculate and move to the closest enemy while observing obstacles. I also added critical strike chance and block chance to add some needed randomness in combat. The system obviously still needs some work, but I am overall happy with it. I know this is a relatively short devlog, but I think I've accomplished a lot since the previous devlog! Comment down below your thoughts on the new systems and the devlog overall! Also let me know if you have any suggestions for systems that might be fun in the game or recommendations on game development overall! Thank you all for helping me reach 10,000 subscribers!
