In the second part of my dive into Advance Randomisation within Logic’s Pattern Sequencing capabilities, I’m going further down the road of imagining all of these features as a kind of modular synthesiser. This time, I’m going to pick up where that video left off, when I dragged and dropped a preset Pattern Sequence on top of the Drums I’d made. In this episode, I’ll show you how to create a Melodic Pattern sequence from scratch, adding Notes (including choosing Key and Scale steps) and Automation. We’ll explore how to add Ties and Repeats to a Note sequence, the former of which lets us add Sustained notes, producing a slower Baseline below a busy higher sequence. But we’ll go further using Automated Effects processing, viewing each sequence step as a chance to create Control messages to both Insert and Auxiliary Send levels.
