How to Build a Great Project Communications Plan
If your project does not have a good enough Communications Plan, people won't know as much as they want to know. And if your project fails to keep communication ahead of events then, in the absence of real information, people will fill the vacuum with rumor. When they find out what is going on through rumor and gossip, they start to lose confidence. They feel as if nobody is in control. Because rumor loves exaggeration and gossip loves alarm, the information people get from un-informed sources is always more scary than reality. In people's minds: change plus uncertainty equals conspiracy. Ironically, this is what Kennedy said about this: “The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.” Have I persuaded you of the need for a great Communications Plan? I hope so. In this video, I'll take you through what goes into the two most common formats for a Project Communications Plan.
