We discuss how and when to test your 1 rep max in the gym!
If you’re anything like me a few years ago, you probably one of those intermediate lifters who just maxes out whenever you feel like it.
Or maybe you do it at the end of like one of your blocks on Wendler 5/3/1, 5x5, Texas Method or something similar.
But it never really goes as planned. Sometimes you hit a PR, often times you don’t.
It often feels like a bit of a guess, you’re not sure if a PR is there or not.
Then after maxing out, your strength drops a bit and you have this drop in motivation and increase in fatigue.
This approach is wasting a bunch of your time, because it isn’t predictable or structured!
There’s not really a planned, periodised build up, and that’s why half the time you don’t hit a PR or actually get any stronger on your squat, bench press and deadlift.
In this video, I’m going to tell you a better way of maxing out, so you can actually hit PR’s on a regular basis and get much stronger.
I show you how to design and plan your training blocks to build up to a 1RM test, in a way that actually sets you up to hit PR's. We then discuss how to actually go about the execution of a 1RM testing day or powerlifting meet day performance!
If you have any questions, leave them in the comment section of this video.
Thank you so much for watching & I hope this video helped you.
