In this series, we dive into the newly added TGG campaign mode, trying to work out the best strategies against the Hard AI. Each campaign offers 10 curated kingdoms which come with some twisted game mechanics.
This second kingdom comes with a double Stamp on Mining Road, turning it into a next-turn village. Frigate both encourages and discourages a proper engine.
In the first game, our Sentry-Cage open backfires as the Sentry refuses to find the Estates - maybe I shouldn't have trashed the first Copper with the Sentry. AI's Frigate additionally hurt us, and missing our Frigate a few times also didn't help. Gaining and playing Cages was a somewhat nifty trick.
We were still fairly close (almost hitting double Prov t15), but then AI piled out on us.
The second playthrough was cleaner - although we find the Cage in an annoying spot and are forced to skip its first play, we get thin a lot quicker and are in control (keeping Frigate attacks up as well) throughout the whole game, eventually allowing a good ol' Cures pileout.
Dominion is a deck building card game created by Donald X. Vaccarino.
Currently, there exist two online implementations: The browser and subscription-based Dominion Online (https://dominion.games/), and the multi-platform-, single-purchase-based client by Temple Gates Games (TGG), available e.g. on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1131620/Dominion/) and mobile appliances.
Here, we play on the TGG client, which offers free play of the Base game as well as a free daily entry into a randomly generated (with some restrictions) kingdom, where you get to compete against their AI. Campaigns against the AI can be played once the appropriate expansion is bought.
