In this series, we dive into the newly added TGG campaign mode, trying to work out the best strategies against the Hard AI. Each campaign offers 10 curated kingdoms which come with some twisted game mechanics.
When starting up this one, our hand seems to be missing in action - that's because of the 'One Track Mind' stamp that's modifying our beloved Prepare event.
We quickly realize the doubled disadvantage we're at - first off, we're second player, and secondly, we have a $2/$5 opening split, which essentially forces us to skip the first turns - in hindsight I think we should've gone for a Cage, but I was too exasperated by the kingdom to think straight - and also, due to your deck being much thinner as half the cards are staying out each turn anyways, thinning didn't seem as relevant here as on other kingdoms.
We do however get to play this more precisely than the AI, taking advantage of the strong Swamp Shacks, Landing Party and Prepare synergies. After grinding in some strong payload, we hit big numbers on our last turn, finally able to outscore AI.
Let me know what you thought about this series - I might do another campaign playthrough soon.
Dominion is a deck building card game created by Donald X. Vaccarino.
Currently, there exist two online implementations: The browser and subscription-based Dominion Online (https://dominion.games/), and the multi-platform-, single-purchase-based client by Temple Gates Games (TGG), available e.g. on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1131620/Dominion/) and mobile appliances.
Here, we play on the TGG client, which offers free play of the Base game as well as a free daily entry into a randomly generated (with some restrictions) kingdom, where you get to compete against their AI. Campaigns against the AI can be played once the appropriate expansion is bought.
