In this series, we dive into the newly added TGG campaign mode, trying to work out the best strategies against the Hard AI. Each campaign offers 10 curated kingdoms which come with some twisted game mechanics.
For this kingdom, we are greeted by quite the unique twist - to start out, there are already 10 extra Curses in the trash! And while that would largely be inconsequential in most kingdoms, due to the presence of Shaman we are essentially Cursed each turn until we can start to defend against it. This creates an interesting dynamic where you'll struggle for deck control quite a bit. It also increases the swingyness of the first few turns - you really want to see those trashers (and Cabin Boys) as often as possible, and even the difference between t3 and t4 can matter for them. AI manages to thin down much more efficiently than us in the first two attempts, completely trouncing us twice, until we finally catch a few good early hands in the third one. I'm not sure what to take away from this one, other than that I might have played a tad too fast for my own good.
Hope you still enjoy the failed attempts; if not, feel feee to skip to the last one.
Dominion is a deck building card game created by Donald X. Vaccarino.
Currently, there exist two online implementations: The browser and subscription-based Dominion Online (https://dominion.games/), and the multi-platform-, single-purchase-based client by Temple Gates Games (TGG), available e.g. on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1131620/Dominion/) and mobile appliances.
Here, we play on the TGG client, which offers free play of the Base game as well as a free daily entry into a randomly generated (with some restrictions) kingdom, where you get to compete against their AI. Campaigns against the AI can be played once the appropriate expansion is bought.
Dombot kingdom string:
