Would A LEGO Car Drive Faster If Its Wheels Had Wheels?
Would a car drive faster if each of its wheels had their own wheels? It's a question I've wondered about for a while, so I was excited to finally make a video on it. The first challenge was to design the wheels themselves: I needed a mechanism that allowed the small wheels to all rotate when I rotate the large wheel. After several iterations, I settled on a fairly compact design. I then put it in a car, and designed a locking mechanism to allow me to drive the car either with the small wheels turning, or with them fixed in place, to easily compare the car's speed in each case. So would the wheels on the wheels make the car go faster? Let's find out!
