Today, let’s use gravity to power some of our gadgets. We’ll use Lego to build some different mechanisms that will allow us to store potential energy. And then we can release it when we need the energy to power our electrical gadgets.
Generators like these are easy to build at home with some Lego, magnets, and copper wire. But it’s also possible to create these generators using only Lego parts, by turning a standard Lego motor into a generator.
So let’s experiment with some different mechanisms, and we’ll see if we can use gravity to power some electrical gadgets for a useful amount of time!
I’d like to extend a thanks to @Wintergatan for his phenomenal video on the Huygen’s chain drive mechanism, which served as the inspiration for this video’s contraption.
