Wildlife Photography in Sub-Antarctic New Zealand and Australia
🌍✨ Step into the awe-inspiring sub-Antarctic islands of New Zealand and Australia, where untouched wilderness merges with the untamed beauty of the Southern Ocean’s remarkable seabirds. In this natural history photography documentary, I take you behind the lens on Macquarie and Campbell Islands, unveiling the lives of these iconic seabirds while sharing the triumphs and trials of photographing wildlife in one of the most remote, wind-swept habitats on Earth. This film is a fusion of natural history, storytelling and technique, offering both a window into the Sub-Antarctic and an insightful photography tutorial for capturing its magic. I'm overjoyed to announce an exclusive collaboration with @HeritageExpeditions , a family-owned expedition cruise company celebrated for their authentic small-ship adventures to some of the world’s most remote and pristine destinations. Together, we are offering unparalleled wildlife photography workshops designed to immerse participants in the art of capturing nature’s most extraordinary moments. 📸 BOOK YOUR PLACE ON THESE EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS: https://www.rachelbigsby.com/photography-workshops 🔔 Support the channel by subscribing 📲 Follow me on Instagram: @rachelbigsby 📧 Get a FREE photography ebook when you subscribe: www.rachelbigsby.com 00:00 Introduction 01:08 Royal Penguins of Macquarie Island 03:46 Elephant Seals of Macquarie Island 04:49 King Penguins of Macquarie Island 07:05 Southern Royal Albatross of Campbell Island 10:10 Returning home to review images 10:25 How I captured in-camera multiple exposures 15:13 The challenges of photographing wildlife in the Sub Antarctic 17:46 Photographing King Penguins 21:06 Photographing seabirds using creative techniques 25:45 Final thoughts and how you can join my workshop! 28:35 Closing footage 👋 Who am I? My name is Rachel Bigsby, I am a wildlife photographer driven by my genuine passion for nature and creative flair. At just 27 years old, I’ve been fortunate to achieve milestones such as winning the 'Natural Artistry' category in Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Portfolio Award in Bird Photographer of the Year. I am also a proud Nikon Creator, a published photographer for National Geographic, an RSPB ambassador and a wildlife photography expedition leader. Without any formal training, I’ve built my career from the ground up, carving my own path and honing my skills and artistic vision through relentless dedication. My photography is about more than capturing beautiful images—it’s about telling intricate stories. With a deep knowledge of my carefully chosen subjects, I have developed a unique ability to anticipate moments and capture the finer details and behaviors that often go unnoticed. I strive to infuse my images with these insights, offering viewers a perspective that is both scientifically informed and artistically profound. 🎥 Equipment featured in this video: @NikonEurope Z9 Nikkor Z 400mm f/4.5 Nikkor Z 135mm f/1.8 Nikon Monarch M7 Plus 8x30 binoculars @ShimodaDesigns Action X30 v2 Backpack Army Green @DelkinDevicesInc Black 1.2 TB CF Express Cards 🎶 Closing Music Royalty Free Music: Bensound.com License code: WIHMSZYKFQEHUMJE
