. In this Building Management System(BMS) training video, we talked about input devices or sensors used in Building Management System or BMS which is also known as building automation system or BAS.
Commonly used input devices in BMS are as follow:
1) Temperature sensor which can be thermistor and temperature transmitters. Thermistors are variable resistors in which resistance changes with temperature while temperature sensors provide DC signals. Temperature sensors can be a strap on the sensor, immersion sensor, and duct sensors.
2) Relative humidity sensors are used to measure the relative amount of moisture in the air.
3) The pressure sensor in BMS are used to measure static pressure or differential pressure in air ducts or water pipes.
4) Flow meters are used to measure volume or mass of air or water passed through a cross-section area.
5) Gas sensors are used to measure the level of carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide inside buildings.
6) Differential pressure switches, flow-switches, pressure switches, and float switches are also used in BMS.
