LFOs are fantastic 'interruptors'; modules used to shape parameters to bend them to your sound design will.
In a synth, if you want to add vibrato to a sound, for example, use a LFO to interrupt the pitch stage and the note will bend sharp and flat, at the speed of your choice and using the LFO's waveform to set the shape you want too. In Ultrabeat, we can use LFOs on a per-voice basis to sound deisgn drum sounds. But the LFOs in this instrument have one huge advantage - their Cycles dial. This sets the maximum number of repetitions of the LFO waveform shape before that routing stops, letting a sound 'settle', as it if didn't have a LFO routed to it at all. This means that you can create a blur, a blip, a rattle or a flurry of activity to the start of a drum sound before it becomes 'normal' again, particularly if you set a small Cycle number and a rapid LFO speed. In this video, Jono will show you how to achieve this effect on both Kick and Snare sounds.
