Leadership and policy in inclusive education and inclusive instructional strategies
This session focuses on the role of leadership and policy in creating inclusive education systems. EASNIE introduces Dr Gordon Porter, Director of Inclusive Education Canada (https://www.inclusiveeducation.ca/), who discusses the importance of clear goals, strong policies and continuous professional development in supporting inclusive education. He highlights the need for high expectations, culturally responsive teaching, and universal design for learning to create inclusive classrooms. Dr Porter also shares practical advice on evaluating leadership and instructional strategies, including how to create personalised learning plans. This session is part of the project ‘Combatting Disparities in Access to Inclusive Education in Italy, Portugal and Spain', funded by the European Union through the Technical Support Instrument (TSI) and carried out by EASNIE in co-operation with the European Commission’s Reform and Investment Task Force (SG REFORM) https://reform-support.ec.europa.eu/index_en.
