Jonathan McLatchie Calls into the Atheist Experience About the Evidence for the Resurrection
This is the third time I have called into the Atheist Experience in the show's history. The previous two times the hosts wanted to point me in the direction of scholars who agree with them, rather than engage intelligently with the arguments I was presenting. It seems a bit disingenuous that they are happy to engage with ill-informed Christians but when a well-informed Christian calls in and they realise they are out of their depth they refer them to their favourite scholars (when I could do exactly the same thing). This occasion was different. This time I called in to talk about the evidence for the resurrection, and the hosts attempted to engage with what I was saying. Big mistake. They were clearly out of their depth and also in academic nala land (e.g. expressing skepticism on whether the apostles ever existed, claiming that the prior probability of God is 0 and similar nonsense). This time a different tactic was employed -- they repeatedly interrupted me and spoke over me before I could finish refuting their many mistakes. What I have long suspected has been yet again confirmed -- the atheist community of Austin has no interest in objective pursuit of the evidence.
