We revisited the top forward gravity defying cake structure to clarify some questions that were raised in a similar post.
The 7 inches tier with rice krispy treats cracked and started splitting after we cut into it.
Factors that likely caused it
. The RKTs stiffness was not good enough for the structure.
. The fact that the tier leaned to the side so much more than others combined with RKTs stiffness, weakened the structure to the side with more cake volume.
So if one must use RKTs, make them very stiff. Otherwise it is safer to use the other methods.
The top tier had RKTs but it was intact overnight. It was due to the size and inclination level.
( Update: From a recent cake structure, we noted that if supporting material (eg. RKTs, styrofoam), is more than one third of the tier, the tier will be more secure.

The styrofoam support for top forward tiers that had a bigger portion being 'midair' were half of the tier, so were more secure.)
