How to Make Handmade Pottery Ramen Bowls — ASMR Edition
Here's the LONG ASMR edition of my latest video that shows the creation of three different shapes of ramen bowl. If you'd prefer to watch the fully narrated version, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/DrA4yOLlbls These pots were made for Alex, @FrenchGuyCooking. If you'd like to watch HIS video, where we actually use the bowls to eat ramen from and talk about their shapes, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB_vyfGpo0c Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! And if you have any questions please do ask in the comments below. 🌫 • YSP EXHIBITION INFORMATION: https://ysp.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/florian-gadsby-by-my-hands 📖 • PRE-ORDER MY BOOK: https://geni.us/bymyhands 🏺 • If you want to learn how to throw a pot, you might like my 'A Beginner's Guide' series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2WJhtTF0eGhQwf8g2LHcom_KrvJpH_JT ⚙️ • Spinner tool, made by Richard Carter, (you need to DM him on Instagram to purchase one): https://www.instagram.com/richardcarter6952/ 📢 • Find out much more about my work here: https://linktr.ee/floriangadsby ⏱ • Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction 0:26 - Preparing clay to throw with 2:46 - Throwing the bowls 13:59 - Wiring the bowls off the MDF bats 18:01 - Trimming the bowls 41:50 - Before & after — thrown verses trimmed 42:10 - Packing the electric kiln for a bisque firing to 1000ºC 42:53 - Unpacking the electric kiln 43:51 - Waxing the bowl's feet 45:22 - HOW I MIX the Tenmoku glaze, (recipe included) 46:01 - Glazing the bowls 49:57 - Cleaning up the glazed bowls prior to firing 51:32 - Packing the gas kiln 54:24 - Reduction firing the gas kiln to 1290ºC 57:48 - Opening the kiln and seeing the bowls 1:01:12 - Sanding the base of the bowls 1:02:15 - Close up images of the Tenmoku glaze 1:03:07 - Clean up *It's worth noting! That you won't get the same results as I do if you're firing in oxidation. The reduction firing really helps with this process. *I throw using both a Rohde HMT 500 & 600 potter's wheel and fire using Rohde kilns too, the electric is a TE-200 and the gas kiln is a KG-340. ____ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/floriangadsby/ TikTok – https://www.tiktok.com/@floriangadsby Website – http://www.floriangadsby.com
