Hotstart TBM 900 Part 2 - IFR Arrival to Aberdeen ILS 34 [X-Plane]
Part two of the video series looking at the Hotstart TBM 900 in X-Plane 11. We complete the flight from Glasgow EGPF to Aberdeen EGPD by flying a decelerating CDA ILS followed by taxi in and then shutdown. The three big takeaways are 1) Examine the vertical profile on the flightplan carefully, 2) Consider when and how to activate the approach and 3) Decide if auto switching from GPS to ILS is appropriate.
Errors, Omissions, Clarifications:-
- Make sure the inertial separator is fully off before switching the power off with the crash bar. You can hear this only, there is no indication (my volume was very low during recording and I was probably about 2 seconds early)
- To be clear about the vertical profile VNav. Altitudes show in white on the flightplan are from the nav database, but will not affect the flight plan in any way, they must be made blue with the ENT button to come into effect. X-Plane 11 does not currently seem to support “at-or-above” VNav constraints.
