MY TRAINING APP: https://tf2strength.programs.app/ CONNECT WITH ME: https://instagram.com/jake_boly/ The hips shooting up in the deadlift is possibly one of the biggest deadlift mistakes that I see lifters and athletes make across the board. If the hips are rising too quickly, then we can lose out on some of our deadlift potential and run into deadlift form breakdown. Hips that are moving before we physically pull the weight indicate that our setup is lacking and our deadlift prime movers are going to be disadvantaged. In this video, we're going to cover why your hips might be shooting up in your deadlift and how to fix this. 0:00 Like & Subscribe! 0:44 Why Hip Shoot Can Happen 1:33 Chapter 1: Form & Setup Is Off 3:34 How to Fix Your Deadlift Setup 4:31 Chapter 2: Creating Better Tension 5:43 How to Pull Slack Out of the Bar 6:36 Chapter 3: Exceeding Deadlift Thresholds 7:04 Try Mid-Shin Pause + Full Rep 9:05 Use Tempo Deadlifts If your hips are shooting up in the deadlift, I think it can be incredibly important to first identify why it's physically happening. Is it because your deadlift setup is off? Or is lack of pulling slack out of the bar? These are all great questions to ask when working your deadlift form and hip mechanics. The most common reason for a hip shoot is sitting too low in the deadlift, so I'd highly suggest starting there when exploring this aspect of your pull.
