Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 15E: Oblique Shocks. In this 15-minute video, Professor Cimbala describes oblique shocks - the shock angle and turning angle, the importance of the normal component of Mach number, and the aptly though not cleverly named theta-beta-Mach number equation. He explains several features of this equation and its corresponding theta-beta-Mach number plot. Finally, he works through two example problems involving oblique shocks. This video incorporates material from Section 12-4 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala, Edition 4.
