Here are more good options when looking for fire roll surfaces in the woods. For the top board, I once again carved a flat surface onto a degraded branch off the forest floor. For the bottom board, I vertically fire rolled atop the bark of a young standing Tulip Poplar tree. When its bark bruised and oozed too much sap, I had to finish the demonstration on the side of a huge Eastern Red Cedar tree. The constant rain made this one very challenging, but I still got success in the end. Come check it out.
