He joined the graffiti crew “The Fabulous 5” in the 1970s, earning his name by tagging the number 5 subway train. In 1979, he gained attention in The Village Voice, leading to a gallery show in Rome. Freddy produced and starred in Wild Style (1983), appeared in American Gangster, and directed music videos like Nas’s “One Love.” His Netflix film Grass is Greener explores his social justice brand, B Noble.
