Bonjour from French Pass!
French Pass is a pretty special place at the tip of the Marlborough Sounds. The pass separates the main land mass from D'Urville Island which is one of the larger islands that make up the sounds.
Getting here is relatively easy but is a very long windy road and takes around 3 hours from my home town in Blenheim.
Today is another beautiful day in the sounds and I'm hoping to activate a park that I've been considering doing for a while now. To be honest the distance and effort required to get here has made me hesitant unless the weather has been just perfect and that's certainly the case today. On top of this, there are a number of other operators out and about so it's looking like we'll have a pretty busy morning.
Join me to see some stunning scenery, meet a local bandit who tries to steal parts off my antenna, learn a bit of history and discover that drinking and driving a ship isn't the most sensible combination. Hopefully we'll squeeze in some radio activity and try to activate a park while we're here!
I'm exhausted already 😂
