After that video I thought I could find even funkier gear, so this time I chose the funky gear to test myself, and took it on a perfect fall backpacking trip! I love trying funky gear from cottage brands, because it shows just how innovative people can be. All of this gear was created because someone saw a problem with their backpacking kit, and thought, "I have a solution for that!" Innovation means taking a risk. When these audacious small brands create something fun and different, that also means it has a real chance of moving the outdoor industry forward, and I love that.
