DON’T BUY A SIM CARD AT THE AIRPORT Buying a SIM card at the airport is usually more expensive than buying in the city center. 3 — don’t be surprised at Israeli McDonald’s McDonald's in Israel offers a few differences that set them apart from McDonald's 40,000 other restaurants around the world. They are considered to be one of the aseptic fast food restaurants by dedicating their food options to a Kosher diet. 4 — DON’T … NEVER EVER ASK FOR A CHEESEBURGER, PORK, SHELLFISH AND OTHER TYPES OF FOOD AT A KOSHER RESTAURANT Jewish kosher meals have dietary rules and certain things are prohibited under their laws, such as consuming meat and dairy together and eating pork or shellfish 5 — don’t expect breakfast in Israel to be small Israeli breakfast is a lie – as it is actually brunch. Order an Israeli breakfast platter at any restaurant and your table will soon be loaded with bread, pastries, salads, mezes, eggs, orange juice, coffee, and more pastries – to ensure you remain full until the afternoon 6 — always tip Israeli waiters, and Tel Aviv waiters in particular, live off tips rather than actual salaries, so tipping is very common, and quite high – at about 10-15% of the meal. 7 — don’t dress inappropriately - remember modesty is the key here If you are going to holy sites, DO NOT dress immodestly. Whether entering a mosque, a church or a synagogue, shoulders and knees MUST be covered. Modest dress code is also required for visiting the Temple Mount, The Baha’i Gardens in Haifa, or walking through any of the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods. 8 — don’t be afraid to haggle or bargain When you shop in local markets – and please don’t skip on Israel’s many local markets – bargaining is expected. 11 — Memorial days In the State of Israel, there are two days of the year when everyone stands still for one minute straight – on Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) for The Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism, and on Holocaust Remembrance Day. Remember: STOP WALKING WHEN YOM HAZIKARON (MEMORIAL DAY) AND HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY SIRENS ARE HEARD 12 — respect their religion Israel is a small country, however for such a small country, it holds great importance to some of the biggest religions in the world – Christianity, Islam and Judaism. 17 - DON’T CARRY THESE ITEMS Apparently, when you visit Israel you should be wary of what you shouldn’t bring. Here’s a list: * Your clothes shouldn’t have political or religious prints on them; * You should never take Koran or another Arabic book with you; * You should never have political material regarding a local conflict; * Avoid having toy weapons so you don’t raise any suspicion against you; * Never ever bring drugs with you. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 🆓 DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION ABOUT TRAVEL TO NORWAY, living in Norway or travel in general?
