To be honest, I didn’t find hard to enter the country and no one asked me anything besides the usual questions ‘Why are you visiting Israel?’, ‘Are you staying with friends?’ and so on. The hard part was leaving. Don’t panic, they are just doing their job and 99% of the time there’s nothing wrong with you. I understand why they have to do this, given the conflicts that Israel keeps facing. And because the procedure takes forever, you really have to go to the airport around 3 hours before your flight to avoid the risk of missing it. It’s not like taking internal flights or traveling within Europe where you can travel at the very last minute. ✅ lean a few words in Hebrew LEARN AND PRACTICE YOUR HEBREW AND INTERACT WITH LOCALS One of the best piece of advice I can give to you is to always learn a few words and expressions of the language of the country you’re traveling to. In Israel almost everyone speaks and understands English, however it always comes in handy when you know how to get your way around if there’s a language barrier. You can learn a few words in Hebrew and, if you want, you can also learn a little bit of Arabic since it’s also spoken in Israel by a large proportion of the population. Here are a few words in Hebrew: * Shalom – Hello, goodbye and a few things in between. It means “peace”. It’s probably the most known word in Hebrew. * Shabbat Shalom / Good Shabbos – The Jewish greeting on Shabbat (Saturday). * Chen & Lo – Yes & no. Chen is pronounced ‘ken’. * Bevakasha – Please * Ma nishmá – What’s up? * Toda / Toda Raba – Thank you / Thanks a lot or thank you very much * Slicha – Sorry / Excuse Me / Pardon me * Tov in Hebrew means “good”. That’s why you say Mazel Tov (good fortune), Boker Tov (good morning) and Laila Tov (good evening). ✅ DON’T CARRY THESE ITEMS Apparently, when you visit Israel you should be wary of what you shouldn’t bring. Here’s a list: * Your clothes shouldn’t have political or religious prints on them; * You should never take Koran or another Arabic book with you; * You should never have political material regarding a local conflict; * Avoid having toy weapons so you don’t raise any suspicion against you; * Never ever bring drugs with you. It doesn’t mean that you are going to get arrested right away, but if someone asks to check your bag and find a few of these items, you might get in trouble and be kept waiting for questioning. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 🆓 DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION ABOUT TRAVEL TO NORWAY, living in Norway or travel in general?
