History of the Seiko Scuba Mid-Size Diver's Watch: The Seiko Scuba Mid-Size Diver's Watch, often referred to as the Lady Diver's Watch, is a classic timepiece renowned for its robust design and reliable performance. Introduced in the late 20th century, this watch features the caliber 4205A movement, a testament to Seiko's commitment to quality and innovation in horology. Its compact size and durable build made it a popular choice among both amateur and professional divers.
Restoration Process:
Initial Assessment: Bought on eBay as a defective watch.
Movement Details: Fitted with a Seiko caliber 4205A movement.
Parts: Utilized spare parts, including bezel insert, dial, glass, and strap. Some original, some aftermarket.
Cleaning: Ultrasonic Machine for 45 minutes, followed by the Watch Movement Cleaning Machine for an hour.
Restoration: Two months of planning, shooting, and organizing spare parts. The case restoration was done by hand.
Challenges: Restoring the heavily used case and working with a contaminated, rusty movement.
