Yasir Qadhi: The Verse of the Covenant (7:172) | Ibn Taymiyya | The Academy and the Madrasa

In this video I have the pleasure of chatting with Dr. Yasir Qadhi on the exegesis of Quran 7:172 and Ibn Taymiyya. Yasir Qadhi is a well known intellectual and leader in the Muslim community. He has a bachelor degree in chemical engineering; he studied for ten years at the University of Medina obtaining a BA in Hadith and a MA in Theology and he obtained his Ph.D. from Yale in Islamic Studies. He is currently at the Islamic Seminary of America. We discuss the exegetical history of this verse, the exegesis of it by Ibn Taymiyya and how his exegesis can inform the way we think about Tafsir, Fiqh, and Muslim thought generally.
