The show was named after The Rock who, weeks prior, joined Vince McMahon and The Corporation. Now known as McMahon's "Corporate Champion", Rocky goes into his very own PPV event to defend his title against Mankind, a man who was wronged by Vince and Rock at the 1998 Survivor Series. The Steve Austin vs Undertaker rivalry comes to an end when the two legends face eachother in a Buried Alive match. The winner of this main event gets a place in the 1999 Royal Rumble match. Elsewhere on the card the New Age Outlaws defend their tag team championships against Ken Shamrock and the Big Boss Man, Steve Blackman takes on Owen Hart, and Goldust wrestles Jeff Jarrett.
