In this episode I'll show you how to dismantle and service a rolex caliber 3186 with gmt function.
This was the first Rolex gmt master 2 with a ceramic bezel and is a tricky one to do as the bezel insert can crack. So in this episode i do a full restoration of this 2011 GMT reference 116710LN. The sapphire crystal has cracked from a heavy impact and the shards of sapphire have gone so far down in to the 3186 Rolex movement that it has cause damage to other parts of the mechanism. Polishing a Rolex is also a polarising thing, some people like it and others don’t, but it’s something the Rolex service centers would do anyway and if done correctly can be a thing to behold. So I will attempt to get as close to a factory finish on the case and oyster bracelet.
