Woodworking Before Engineers: How Story Sticks Made It Possible

Do you know what a story stick is? Do you, or someone you know still use them regularly? This is part 1 in a series of videos about how #millwork and #architecturalwoodwork was done before we had engineers and #CAM software to send programs to CNCs and beams saws. When I first got into the industry, I was drafting shop drawings for impact rated door and windows, and when I wasn't doing that, I was learning how to make them. I was fortunate enough to work with some very skilled career millworkers, and they taught me how to make story sticks first, and then cut lists from the story sticks. This was fundamental to my journey into #millworkengineering and understanding the purpose of everything I did in drafting and engineering, and how it would either help or hinder the bench builders.
