Woodturning Juniper Live Edge Bowl
I picked up five Juniper logs for free about a year ago, and I’ve been impatiently waiting for them to dry out ever since. I could immediately tell that the grain in this wood was going to make for some amazing looking pieces. Well, I just couldn’t wait any longer, so I decided to make a live edge bowl out of the smallest piece. I was really surprised by how much this wood had dried out. This was a fun, quick piece to turn and I can make another bowl from the book matched piece of the log. I definitely felt a bit out of practice with the traditional gouges. It’s been a while since I’ve made anything solely using traditional tools. I used danish oil to finish this piece. As always thanks for watching and I hope you have a great day!
