Winston Churchill and the US-UK Special Relationship, Then and Now with Lord Andrew Roberts
On September 26, 2024, Lord Andrew Roberts joined the Civitas Institute in Austin, Texas to deliver a talk titled “Winston Churchill and the US-UK Special Relationship, Then and Now”
We remember Winston Churchill for his fight against fascism and his warnings about communism, but Lord Roberts reveals that this legendary figure has much to teach us about the challenges we face today.
Churchill coined the phrase “The Special Relationship” and Lord Roberts was uniquely able to discuss the longstanding partnership between our two nations and the values it promotes — freedom, prosperity, the rule of law, and peace. In a world where these values are under renewed threat, Lord Roberts shared his insights into how Winston Churchill and the Special Relationship are as relevant as ever.
This event was co-sponsored by the Athenaeum, the Clements Center, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and the Department of History at UT Austin.
