In this video, I demonstrate how to bind a book using the French Link Stitch, a beautiful and durable hand-sewn bookbinding technique. I start by manually cutting the top and bottom edges of the paper to create a deckled effect, adding a handcrafted touch to the book. Then, I carefully pierce holes for sewing and begin stitching the sections together using the French Link Stitch. This method not only adds strength to the binding but also creates an elegant woven pattern along the spine, allowing the book to be opened flat.
The book I am binding in this video is by Else Lasker-Schüler, a groundbreaking poet and playwright known for her expressive and avant-garde works. We published this book at Even Hoshen Private Press in 1997. This book is accompanied by 7 prints and one original etching by the artist Igael Tumarkin. The edition was published in 120 signed and numbered copies,
If you are interested in purchasing a copy do let me know here, as I have at this point a few copies left.
