I'll be honest, it feels like I just wasted a month of my time, but I am starting to understand that the true cost of game development (and any creative pursuit) is the time spent exploring ideas. At the end of the day my core idea for Hexagod is a peaceful village builder with a little bit of strategy and the whole combat system just didn't fit with that vibe. So I'm removing it and focusing on fixing the core design issue with my game.
