why 3 kind of 4x5 camera??? 3+1 technical features to keep in mind for the choice

Today we are answering a question I have been asked very often: what are the differences between the 3 4x5 cameras you have in your catalog? I am answering this question by offering a small contribution of 3+1 features to consider when choosing the best camera for your needs and showing you how these features have been introduced in cameras. In summary, the technical (not physical) features that in my humble opinion should be considered when choosing a camera are: 1) the extension of the bellows: since this is an unmodifiable element, it goes a long way toward affecting the lenses that will be able to be used 2) movements: the possibility to make only one movement without going to modify the others greatly facilitates the focus fese 3) mechanical zeros: the continuation of the previous point, if by making a movement we realize we have done something wrong, a mechanical machine zero allows us to return to the initial point without having to take our attention away from the ground glass 4) materials: this is the least important of the above points, but consider that a metal structure will be subject to less deformation than a wooden structure Having said that, the answer to the question: why did you make 3 cameras? Because each one has one of the above-mentioned different features, making each camera aimed at a different type of customer. The Air force because of its lightness and ease of use is aimed at beginners who do not want to get sidetracked by excessive weight and complexity. The Michelangelo with its 50 cm extension is intended for those who intend to use rather long lenses such as the 450 mm, sacrificing a bit the wide-angle lenses, which can be used but with the recessed plate. The Archi-mede, on the other hand, extends up to 42 cm so it allows the use, but not the full use, of a 400 mm lens, however, compressing a lot it allows the use of wide-angle lenses up to 65 mm without the use of either a retracting plate or a floppy bellows. Rispondo a questa domanda offrendo un piccolo contributo di 3+1 caratteristiche da tenere in considerazione per scegliere la fotocamera più adatta alle vostre esigenze e facendovi vedere come queste caratteristiche sono state introdotte nelle fotocamere. Riassumendo, le caratteristiche tecniche (non fisiche) che secondo il mio modesto punto di vista andrebbero considerati nella scelta di una fotocamera sono: 1) l'estensione del soffietto: essendo un elemento non modificabile, va a incidere in maniera molto importante sulle lenti che potranno essere utilizzate 2) i movimenti: la possibilità da fare solamente un movimento senza andare a modificare gli altri facilita molto la fese di messa a fuoco 3) zero meccanici: il proseguimento del punto precedente, se facendo un movimento ci accorgiamo di aver sbagliato qualcosa, uno zero macchina meccanico ci consente di tornare al punto iniziale senza dover di stogliere l'attenzione dal vetro smerigliato 4) materiali: è il meno importante dei punti sopracitati, ma considera che una struttura in metallo sarà soggetta a meno deformazioni rispetto ad una struttura in legno Detto questo la risposta alla domanda: perchè hai fatto 3 fotocamere? perchè ognuna ha una delle caratteristiche sopracitate diverse, che rendono ogni fotocamera indirizzata ad un tipo di cliente diverso. La Air force per leggerezza e semplicità di utilizzo è destinata a chi è alle prime armi e non vuol farsi deconcentrare da peso eccessivo e complessità. La Michelangelo con i suoi 50 cm di estensione è destinata a chi intende utilizzare lenti piuttosto lunghe come il 450 mm, sacrificando un po' le lenti grandangolari, utilizzabili ma con la piastra rientrante. L'Archi-mede invece si estende fino a 42 cm quindi permette di utilizzare, ma non appieno, una lente da 400 mm, però comprimendosi molto permette l'utilizzo di obiettivi grandangolari fino al 65 mm senza utilizzo ne di piastra rientrante ne di soffietto floscio.
