Wheeltop Buys Rotor: First Ever 2x13 Speed Electronic ROAD Group Set In The Wild In this video, I take the Wheeltop EDS TX 2x13 speed out on its maiden voyage. Yes you heard that right. A functional 2x13 speed road group set! With Wheeltop's recent acquisition of Rotor, many are speculating on what is to come from this merger. In my opinion, this type of group set potential is the reason. Pairing Rotors 13 speed cassette with the Wheeltop EDS TX road system provides the first ever possibility of a complete 2x13 speed drivetrain. I see this influencing Wheeltop's entire groupset line, opening up the potential of multiple group sets built on this platform, including their upcoming gravel set. With sets from the leading manufactures, such as Shimano and SRAM, costing more than this entire build, a competitor like this could really shake up the industry and help drive the already inflated price market down. Yes, there are probably multiple reasons for Wheeltop to buy Rotor, but I find this to be one of the mains. Being able to buy an entire 2x13 speed group for around $1,200USD compared to Shimano's 105Di2 12 speed at a similar price but 500g heavier will be a no-brainer choice for many people. Compare this to SRAMs offer in 13 speed and you would be paying nearly 3x this price. Will we see these group sets hitting the market soon? Let me know what you think. **NOTES** in order to make the derailleur function on this non-standard build, modifications were made to the rear derailleur with the revoval of the swing arm stop bolt We also needed to add a 2.5mm shim between the hub and frame on the drive side to get enough clearance for the chain. This may be frame specific.
