On June 27th, 2015, Teresa was on a family vacation in Connecticut when she was asked to fly back home to see some patients at her clinic the next morning. Leaving her kids in the care of her husband, Mark Sievers, she boarded the first flight home and landed at Southwest Florida International Airport that night.
