The Jack snipe is our smallest species on snipe, hence the name Jack, which is often used for something small. It is one of our hardest species to photograph, but thanks to thermal imagers, now widely used by birdwatchers, much easier to find. Getting a decent picture is still difficult. I have a marsh where they are common and I need to put the time in to find the perfect situation. I try putting a hide up next to a resting Jack snipe. Will it start to feed in front of me?
