What is Memory-based Meditation? Intro to Types 1 & 2 for Better Memory
When I wrote The Victorious Mind, I focused on just one type of memory-based meditation. Now the time has finally come to teach the second type of memory-based meditation. Like Type 1, Type 2 is based heavily on the Memory Palace technique. But in this case, it draws even more heavily on research by Dr. Tim Dalgleish. In his research, Dalgleish has shown how using the Method of Loci (a.k.a the Memory Palace technique) can help reduce depression and symptoms from other issues, such as PTSD. I covered this research in depth in a live stream. Feel free to watch the replay, which is called: Can the Memory Palace Technique Help Depression? [Memory Science Evidence] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs9UHz4pVuM Not only has this approach to using the Memory Palace helped me personally, but it is bound to work. And so I want to begin releasing a number of guided meditation videos on this channel. First, in this video, I need to explain more about the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 memory-based meditation. I wanted to go into depth because this will be a new direction for the channel and I hope regular and new viewers will support the initiative. I have every reason to believe that this is the biggest contribution the Magnetic Memory Method initiative can bring to humanity. If the whole idea that memory training and meditation can go together is new to you, here's a video that breaks it down. It's called: Mindfulness and Meditation for Better Memory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPMoUYiPYLk This video is chapter two of The Victorious Mind audiobook and presents the key research and the reasons why I think Type 1 memory-based meditation works so well. To this day, I continue to practice both. There is much to explore when it comes to Type 2, so I hope you'll find this introduction video informative and useful. My hope is that this approach gives you something more active and consequential to do. It should be an alternative to the "Memory Recall" videos that talk about binaural beats and the like. Such as this kind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjetznvcIjc There's no research that shows any such things work. But there's lots of research showing that techniques like I shared in this TEDx Talk work very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvtYjdriSpM But what does work is showing up consistently to practice and I will be rolling out deeply engaging sessions that will relax you, help you increase your focus and boost your memory. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the project, and I can't wait to help you through the same Free Memory Improvement Kit that has helped many others over the years. That way you can enjoy both types of memory-based meditation with ease. https://www.magneticmemorymethod.com/yt Thanks as always for your interest and support. Talk soon!
