All because of a High Court order- to consider the plea of the Meitei community in Manipur to be included in the Scheduled Tribes of India. But the issue is not a new one. The Meiteis have long been demanding to be declared as STs and the other tribes of the state- the Nagas and the Kukus are determined to not let that happen. Why is that? Why do the Meiteis want the ST tag and why are the other tribes so dead against it?
