What Is a Run-on Sentence? (Writing and Grammar)

A very common error many writers make, both native and non-native English users do this, is the run-on sentence. On the IELTS or TOEFL exams, this error can hurt your score in both the grammar and the cohesion & coherence categories. While many people think a run-on sentence is just a very long sentence, this is not the case. In this video, we look at how to recognize this mistake and how to fix it using a period, a coordinating conjunction, or a semicolon. By the way, the first sentence above is a run-on sentence.
