What if The Father From Mortis SAVED Anakin on Mustafar? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
Anakin closes his eyes and screams as the fires consume his body. He writhes around on the stony shore, feeling his body burn as the lava spreads across his body. Although only a few seconds pass, it feels like an eternity.
But as the pain looks ready to consume him, a blinding light shines through the air, leaving Anakin wincing and covering his eyes. The light is painful, but in a different way. It is blinding and sears through him, laying bare everything he’s done, where even closing his eyes offers no relief. And none of it prepares him for the voice.
Father: You have thrown this galaxy into disorder, boy. Do not grovel on the sand. Your destiny still awaits you.
Visions suddenly fill his mind. These show him a place rich in the Force, whose powers are so strong they fill him with new energy. For just a moment, the pain in his body ceases. But it is also familiar. Anakin has been to this place before. He has felt this power once. Mortis.
Father: This is where you must go. Make haste!
He suddenly disappears, and the pain raging across his body eases up, enough that he can at least drag himself forward. Anakin knows this power isn’t his, but given to him to accomplish this journey.
Despite that, he does not remember much about it. He does not know how he escapes Mustafar or reaches his starship. The only thing he remembers is knowing how good it felt not to feel that burning sensation. If Mortis can take that from him, he will take his chances.
But as soon as he crawls out of his starfighter, the pain in his body flares up again. Even the cold winds blowing around him provide little comfort. Instead, it allows the Force ghost of the Father to appear, his face grimmer and more stern than ever.
Father: You should have remained here, boy,
Anakin: So you can enslave me? So that I can serve you and your children?
Father: So you may learn about the Force and balance. You would have studied under beings with millenia of experience, learned in a place rich in the Force. Instead, you galavanted off, destroying the galaxy to serve your whims.
Anakin roars and struggles forward, but then immediately screams as the pain comes rushing back. The Father looks over him and offers a severe look.
Father: Make no mistake, child. I saved you, but not because I care for you. Here you shall learn. If not for the galaxy, but for yourself. That is the only time the pain will stop.
Anakin writhes and glares up at him, but then agrees to these terms. Satisfied, the Father allows the pain to ease and begins working with him.
Their first course of action is to heal Anakin of his injuries. His burns are slowly restored, while his limbs are restored. He provides Anakin with temporary prosthetics to wear until such a time that he can heal them properly. After that, his powers must he strengthened through training and experience, and that begins in earnest.
Anakin stands barefoot within a chamber of light. The walls pulse with a soft, living glow, almost like the skin of a star. The air is still, warm, and carries no weight, only peace. Even with the Daughter’s death, the temple has lost little of its luster.
Father: You are not broken. Only lost, confused.
Anakin: I betrayed everyone. Obi-Wan… the Jedi… Padmé.
Father: And yourself. You went against everything you stood for. That is the greatest betrayal you have done. All for the fear of loss and death. Before we can go any further, you must combat that.
He spreads his hands out, and the room’s glow brightens until it becomes a blinding white. The whole room blends, leaving him unable to make anything out.
That is, until the memories start flooding in. They aren’t just images running through his mind, but his feelings, the feelings he felt when he lived them, and how he feels now. The laughter of a boy podracing. A mother’s touch. The firelight of Padmé’s eyes when she says she believes in him. He breathes deeply, slowly, allowing them to wash over him. There is no judgment here. No war. Just the truth of who he was. Where he didn’t need to hide anything or please anyone.
Anakin reaches out to touch his mother’s face. But as his finger brushes against her, she fades into the light.
He stares in surprise, but the Father places a hand on his shoulder.
Father: She is not here. She’s long gone. Nothing you do can ever bring her back, and nothing you do will ever prevent others from joining her.
Anakin: So what is the point of all this?
Father: To remind you of what truly matters. You were so quick to chase your dream that you forgot what was real.
Anakin: None of this is real?
Father: No. The joy you felt was real. The love. The freedom. None of that was illusion.”
