🔥Welding & Line Boring Rear Frame Articulation Joint | Franna Crane Project | Part 30
We’re back on the tools for Part 30 of our Franna crane project and we are going to tackle line boring the pivot hole on the new articulation plate! But before we can do that we’ve got some serious welding to do on the new plate. Once that’s welded out and cooling, we take the opportunity to clear out a few stubborn leftovers from the rear frame — including some rusted, seized trailing arms, a couple of old brackets, and the spherical bearings from the steering cylinders. Then it’s time to set up our smallest Sir Meccanica WS1 portable line borer to get the job done and use centering cones for perfect alignment. First we bore out the top hole due to porosity and lay in a fresh weld before line boring both positions to exact spec. Another solid day in the workshop on the Franna project — with welding, fabrication, and line boring all in a days work.
