Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide. There is currently no cure for PD, but focused ultrasound – a noninvasive, revolutionary technology – is FDA-approved to address the symptoms, including tremors, rigidity, and dyskinesia. Researchers are also investigating focused ultrasound’s ability to assist with PD diagnosis and monitor disease progression.
To commemorate Parkinson's Awareness Month, the Foundation hosted a webinar on the topic. A panel of experts provided a comprehensive overview of the current state of PD treatment options, including the latest advancements in focused ultrasound. The webinar also covered the status of insurance reimbursement for the treatment as well as a testimonial by a focused ultrasound patient with PD.
