We Bought a Dead Land Rover Nobody Wanted! / S5 - EP51

In this week’s episode, we took a gamble and bought a non-running 2016 Land Rover Discovery 4 SE with the 306DT engine and 181,000 km on the clock. This beautiful car had been sitting at a used car dealership, unloved and unwanted, due to an apparent engine failure. The price was unbeatable, but we knew we were taking a risk! The adventure began with a challenging trip halfway across Germany to pick it up. Using our trusty 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 — which hit an impressive milestone of 300,000 km during this journey — we towed a huge trailer to bring the Discovery 4 back home. Loading the 2.7-ton vehicle onto the trailer was no small feat, especially with our limited experience handling such a large setup. But with determination (and a few laughs), we got it done. Once home, we wasted no time unloading and diving into the inspection. What we found left us shocked — the engine failure had a surprising and unexpected cause!
