Walking the Entire Cotswold Way - Stanway House to Winchcombe

The Cotswold Way – a truly beautiful National Trail stretching just over 100 miles. It begins in the charming market town of Chipping Campden, meanders south through the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and finishes in the historic City of Bath. Join me on this series every Sunday as I set out to walk and film every single step of this stunning trail, sharing the entire journey with you from start to finish. Part 3: Stanway House to Winchcombe – 5.15 miles (8.29 km) This section begins with a steep climb out of Stanway, leading us back onto the Cotswold escarpment. The effort is well worth it, as we’ll be greeted with magnificent views across the Vale of Evesham toward the distant Malvern Hills. As we continue, the trail takes us past the Iron Age hill fort of Beckbury Camp before we descend into Hailes, where we’ll find a charming little church and the atmospheric ruins of Hailes Abbey. From there, we’ll wander through peaceful farmland and finish just before before arriving in the historic Cotswold town of Winchcombe, a perfect place to finish this part of the journey. This leg of the journey includes 564 feet (172 metres) of ascent and 679 feet (207 metres) of descent, offering a mix of rewarding climbs and tranquil countryside.
