At the onset of the 1970s energy crisis, Volvo, once a leader in sales of affordable and reliable cars, like many other automakers at the time, found themselves turned upside down, struggling to keep up with market demands. As the world transitioned to smaller and more economical vehicles, Volvo had already found itself deeply embroiled in serious problems.
