Violence against women in Latvia | IRREGULAR LATVIAN

Sveiki, draugi! Latvia is great in many ways, and in some – it is not. It is one of the most violent countries in Europe and this violence especially affects woman and children. In this video I address, in my opinion, the 4 key themes surrounding violence against women and I call on Latvians to demand the ratification of the Istanbul Convention – the human rights treaty that is aimed at protecting women and families from violence. I think it is important for people coming to Latvia to know that this is an unresolved issue and I think it is important for Latvians too to come to terms with the dark side of our values and traditions.
