Verdara: Atmospheric Space Music for Spring

I found it in the woods behind our house when I was 12. A stoic triangular structure made of a strange black substance sitting within the forest’s deadened trees. The wars from before I was born left our landscapes destroyed and chemicals in the atmosphere to ensure a future of dull brown decay. Finding the structure provided the most fun I had ever experienced before. I would go there after school to play in, through and around it, pretending I was a futuristic astronaut exploring new planets in deep space. It wasn’t until ten years later in the midst of busy young adult life that I visited the structure in search of peace. I sat down inside it, slowed my breathing and emptied my mind. Something I had never done before, especially as an energetic adventurous kid. As my breathing steadied itself and the last thought left my mind, I opened my eyes and found myself looking out at the most beautiful array of colours strewn across a vast landscape with glistening shooting stars overhead. In an optimistic burst of energy I shot up and leapt out from the structure to explore this lush alien world. And as my feet slammed against the ground I suddenly found myself back in the dead forest behind our house. I’ve visited the structure almost daily since then, enjoying the wondrous view of a far away planet I could never explore.
